Action Comics is back with its original numbering, and the real Superman is back with it!
While for some fans, the New 52 Superman was their Man of Steel, the old school Post-Crisis Superman is back, alongside his wife, Lois Lane, and their son, Jonathan Kent, the new Superboy! In this world, Lex Luthor has co-opted his Superman’s symbol and his role in Metropolis, and the classic Superman isn’t going to let that happen without a fight!
The problem is that Doomsday has resurfaced in Metropolis, and he’s still more powerful than either Superman or Luthor combined. Remember, this is the Superman who gave his life years ago to stop Doomsday. In the back of his mind, he has to know that it could happen again. It’s certainly on Lois’ mind as she watches the battle on TV.
In CraveOnline’s exclusive preview from Action Comics # 959, Lois struggles with the dark memory of that day while trying to shield her son from that horror. Meanwhile, Jimmy Olsen deals with the apparent return of Clark Kent, who claims to not be the New 52 Superman. But we’ll see where that goes…
Here’s DC’s solicitation text for the new issue:
“Clark Kent gets caught in the crossfire as Doomsday crashes through the streets of Metropolis! As Lois struggles to keep young Jonathan out of the path of destruction, can former enemies Superman and Lex Luthor stop the monster that once destroyed the city and killed the Man of Steel—or does Luthor have other plans?”
Action Comics # 959 will be released on Wednesday, July 13. The issue was written by Dan Jurgens, with art by Tyler Kirkham.
