Iowa Man Arrested After Posing as Local Meteorologist Online

Even though we’re talking about Iowa, it should still be pretty easy to point out which one of these guys is a meteorologist and which one probably borrowed ten bucks from his mom yesterday.

According to The Des Moines Register, a 24-year-old Davenport man was arrested recently and charged with two aggravated misdemeanor counts of identity theft after trying to score some babes online by posing as a local meteorologist.

KWQC’s Greg Dutra contacted authorities after he was contacted by a woman who said she was contacted by him through several messages online. Police were able to use IP addresses to trace the messages back to Matt Wendt’s work and home computers.

Wendt was allegedly contacting random local women through social media accounts and used Dutra’s name and picture.

Let’s be honest. KWQC meteorologist Greg Dutra is pretty damn dreamy. Matt Wendt is not. So, how Wendt was going to explain his sixty pound weight gain and sudden hair loss once he actually met these women in person is anybody’s guess.

As of right now, it looks like Wendt will be acting as his own attorney. He might have even more trouble trying to convince the court that he’s Mark Geragos.
