Not since a sign that read “Baylor’s Defense Has More Holes To Fill Than Lisa Ann” landed an Oklahoma State student a date with Lisa Ann to the AVN Awards in Las Vegas has a College GameDay sign been so rewarding.
If you are not a college football fan, then odds are you are unaware of the phenomenon that is College GameDay on ESPN.
Every week, Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso travel to a college campus or venue that is hosting what they deem is the biggest game of the week. When they arrive, they are greeted by thousands of students and football fans who have taken time out of their binge drinking schedules to act as a backdrop to their commentary on the day’s slate of games, and they do so by dressing up in team colors, banana suits and hell, even banana hammocks while holding up signs they hope will get some camera time and fifteen minutes of fame that will hopefully culminate in a dorm room handy later that night.
The result? You guessed it: More than…wait for it…two thousand people deposited cash into that Venmo account, including a solid $50 donation from Venmo themselves.
Of course, since there is no minimum donation amount on Venmo, the majority of them could have been of the one cent variety. But even if that was the case, you would have to think that Sam has enough money now to buy a few ice cold Budweisers for the rest of the month. Or if he’s normally riding the Keystone Light train, then he probably has enough scratch to fill his fridge for the next six years.
