CraveOnline is located in Los Angeles, CA, which is currently having one of its hottest days of the year at 104 degrees. But what if it was a lot cooler in LA? As in 12 degrees and dropping?
This week, writer Joshua Williamson and artist Jason Shawn Alexander are unleashing Frostbite, their new series from Vertigo Comics. As envisioned by Williamson and Alexander, the world has entered a second ice age and heat has become the most precious commodity as humanity struggles to survive. As a people, humans are adaptable. But this situation has also brought out the worst in humanity. Heat has become yet another tool to oppress the survivors, and there are even gangs that would literally kill if it meant gaining heat.
To make matters worse, there’s a disease spreading among the survivors called “frostbite.” Somehow, it freezes people from the inside out almost immediately after it’s contracted. And no one has been able to survive it or find a cure…until now. Doctor Henry Bonham and his daughter, Victoria, think they’ve found the key to ending frostbite and re-stabilizing life on Earth. But in CraveOnline’s exclusive preview for Frostbite # 1, we see that there are some very dangerous people who want to make sure that the Bonhams never arrive at their destination.
It should be noted that these pages were colored by Luis NCT, and you can see the larger version of that splash by clicking on the picture. The remaining pages introduce a young woman named Keaton and her crew in Mexico City, as they reluctantly agree to accompany the Bonhams on their mission. Considering that Keaton is also on the cover of the issue, she’s probably going to be the main character of this story.
Frostbite # 1 will be released on Wednesday, September 28.
