Sandals Unveils Gorgeous Overwater Bungalows

Sandalsthe luxury resort brand long synonymous with dreamy getaways, has upped its design game, taking a page from the bungalow resorts  in the South Pacific.

Montego Bay has finally gotten five overwater bungalows with 12 more to come in February. Overwater bungalows are typically luxury kitted residences stabilized over the open waters. The challenges Sandals faced with bringing the bungalows to Jamaica were many: hurricanes, rough waters, and developing a strong and sturdy design that could withstand these natural threats.

The bungalows are hoisted on concrete and steel pilings. The inaugural suites are spacious double occupancy bungalows sitting above water that runs no deeper than 5 feet at most. As for rough waters, the bungalows are only a short water taxi ride from the island resort.

The double occupancy bungalows run for $1500 a night per person. The soon to be unveiled single occupancy bungalows will be available for $1300 a night.
