Update: GAME has responded to our request for comment. A spokesperson for the company said: “In the event that there is an issue with payment not going through from a customer’s card issuer, an automated ‘cancelled order’ notification is sent to the customer. We’re speaking to the small number of customers affected, and working to make sure they still have the opportunity to get their hands on a new Nintendo Switch.”
Original Story: If you live in the UK and have pre-ordered your Switch from GAME, then it’s time to check your emails because the company is reportedly cancelling orders for the upcoming console.
The Switch is set to launch on Friday, March 3, but GAME has sent out emails to some customers informing them that their orders have been cancelled only a few days away from this date. It’s unclear whether this is a case of the retailer not having enough stock to fulfill these orders, or if there has been some kind of error in the company’s databases, but needless to say GAME’s customers are confused and irritated by this development.
Along with having their Switch pre-orders cancelled, many customers are also reporting that their attempts to contact the company regarding this issue have also been frustrating. According to messages sent to GAME’s social media accounts, some have found themselves waiting on hold for over an hour to speak to the company’s customer service, with many still none the wiser as to why their pre-orders have been cancelled.

GAME is currently being inundated with these messages as we near the Switch’s launch, with many customers now having to desperately search for other retailers that will belatedly secure them the console on its day of release. However, online retailers such as Amazon have now run out of stock, meaning that those looking to buy their Switch elsewhere will have trouble doing so.
GAME has yet to acknowledge this issue, though we have reached out to them for comment. We will update this story if we receive a response.
