PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Has a Brand New Map to Die In

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to receive its second ever map, with a brand new city being unveiled at Gamescom 2017.

The work in progress was debuted at the gaming event in Cologne, Germany, offering a very brief look at an all new arena for players to fight in. The segment of the city shown featured tall buildings, radio towers and a new sandy terrain that will force players to diversify their clothing options in order to more adequately camouflage themselves.

Though Battlegrounds‘ new map doesn’t yet have a name, fans of the early access game will no doubt be pleased to see its developer moving away from the lone arena that has thus far been featured in the Battle Royale-esque game. With many players now knowing that map like the back of their hand, the introduction of this new desert city will no doubt force them to adopt new strategies, and keep things fresh for its huge player base.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has proven to be a major hit with PC players, with it routinely being one of the most played games on Twitch since its release. Though it has yet to make its way out of early access, it has found itself a massive dedicated audience, and the announcement that it would soon be making its way to the Xbox One was one of the major reveals of Microsoft’s press conference.

There’s no word yet on whether there are plans to bring the map to the Xbox One at launch, with the game expected to release on Microsoft’s console in late 2017. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is also scheduled for a full release on PC around this time period, which could coincide with this map’s introduction to the game.
