Photek Returns With ‘Ku: Palm’ – Download a Free Track

Hot on the heels of a Grammy nomination, legendary drum and bass pioneer Rupert Parkes aka Photek has returned with his first album in half a decade, Ku: Palm. Released on Oct. 23, the full-length is a leap from last year’s Avalanche EP –  his first dancefloor-focused release for a number of years, since 2007’s Form & Function Vol. 2.

“As the album started to take shape it felt like it was sitting halfway between Modus Operandi and Solaris – which I felt was a good place to be,” the dynamic beatmaster explained. “Now it’s finished, it might well be my favorite album to date.”

To celebrate the release and draw in new listeners, the producer is giving away the track ‘Pyramid’ from the LP. Check it out and download below:

With the rise of mainstream EDM, Parkes has a particularly optimistic perspective on the state of electronic dance music in 2012.

“I just really like how diverse clubland is in 2012,” he said. “It seems like everyone from the old school to the newbies are open to anything — and that is a place that I feel very comfortable. I had to take some time out for a few years as I just didn’t feel like my music fitted in, I was like a square peg in a round hole — and then the last few years completely changed, there’s a real freedom and excitement in bass music once again.”

Ku:Palm is now available on the artist’s own Photek Productions. Also follow Photek on Twitter.
