During last Sunday’s third season finale of “The Walking Dead,” Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and his sister, Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) finally joined Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the prison survivors alongside a busload of Woodbury refugees.
Earlier today, word broke that both Coleman and Martin-Green have been promoted to series regulars for “The Walking Dead” Season 4 after they made their first appearance on the series in the middle of the third season. Emily Kinney — who has played Beth Greene since the second season — was also bumped up to regular status, joining her on-screen sister, Lauren Cohan who received the promotion last season.
All of this is not to say that Tyreese, Sasha and Beth are safe next season. “The Walking Dead” has a habit of killing off several of its characters, including three regular cast members during the third season. Plus David Morrissey was also given a new deal to play the Governor earlier this week; which means that he will likely strike at Rick and his friends again.
Prior to his stint on “The Walking Dead,” Coleman was best known for his role in “The Wire,” as well as his guest appearances in “Lie To Me,” “In Plain Sight,’ “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” and his starring role as O.J. Simpson in the TV movie Monday Night Mayhem.
Martin-Green is best known for her recurring stints on “Army Wives,” “The Good Wife” and “Once Upon a Time,” while Kinney had guest appearances in “The Big C,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” before joining “The Walking Dead.”
“The Walking Dead” Season 4 is expected to premiere in October on AMC.
