Summer months are always busy for travelers, and I received a few press releases for some great vacation ideas.
First up- Handpicked Adventures, a California-based, artisan food-focused travel company, is offering a one-of-a-kind trip to Piedmont, Italy, September 18-25, 2013. Or, for travel closer to home, check out Colorado with scenic drives along championship golf courses. Colorado is known as a playground for outdoor adventure recreation featuring countless hiking and biking trails surrounded by a breathtaking mountain landscape. Colorado also offers a number of ways to enjoy recreational sports such as golf.
With more than 250 golf courses, from meticulously landscaped municipal courses to resort courses and semi-private and private golf clubs, Colorado offers a diverse mix of championship golf courses for players of all levels.
Colorado is home to Mount Massive Golf Club, which, at 9,640 feet above sea level, is the highest-elevation golf course in the U.S. Elevation is a big part of the golf experience in Colorado, as many of Colorado’s golf courses sit at 7,000 feet above sea level and higher.
Hence, Colorado’s altitude is a big advantage to players who are looking for an extra edge, since drives off the tee in Colorado will travel higher and anywhere from 10-20 percent farther than courses at sea level.
