Out of all of the alien threats introduced in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” none have captured the imagination of the fans like the Borg. It’s no coincidence that the best “Next Generation” movie, Star Trek: First Contact featured the Borg as the primary villain.
However, the Borg were overexposed during “Star Trek: Voyager” and they subsequently lost some of the qualities that made them compelling in the first place.
During the second season of “Star Trek: Enterprise,” the decision was made to bring in the Borg for a one time appearance in “Regeneration,” an episode that actually followed up on the events of First Contact and set the stage for the Borg’s incursion during “The Next Generation” and even “Voyager.”

The above clip was from “Uncharted Territory,” a three part “Enterprise” retrospective included on the Blu-ray that features the writers and producers of the series looking back at their creative choices during the second season. “Star Trek: Enterprise” — The Complete Second Season also includes deleted scenes, commentary tracks and a cast reunion featurette called “In Conversation: The First Crew” in addition to all 26 episodes from the second season.
