If you’re planning on playing Gran Turismo on your PS4 in the near future, we might have some bad news.
Despite Gran Turismo designer Kazunori Yamauchi stating last month that he has a “PS4 version in mind” for Gran Turismo 6, it seems that hasn’t made much progress. During an interview with GameInformer he said:
Once we start work on Gran Turismo for the PS4, perhaps it will be GT7.
GT6‘s port to PS4 appears to not even be in the early development stages. At that point it’s almost better to begin waiting for Gran Turismo 7. That’s a lot to ask from car enthusiasts when each release takes four to five years to develop.
Now, a port from PS3 to PS4 might take less time than that, but what we’ve seen with the PS3’s HD Collections of PS2 titles is it takes a lot more man hours than you would think to port a game from one PlayStation platform to the next. GT6 is a game with an unbelievable amount of content and would therefore be a huge undertaking by the game’s developer, Polyphony Digital.
GT6‘s release date on PS3 was revealed at Gamescom to be December 6th. Be sure to check out the new trailer which came with the announcement.
