Sony is reaching out to every media site it can to stop the proliferation of a video of Ellen Page's virtual avatar taking a shower in the game Beyond: Two Souls.
Of course Sony, according to Crave's CinemaBlend, says the naked body in the game video above isn't even Page's, but they are concerned that it may reflect poorly upon the actress.
Someone with a debug PlayStation 3 system was able to see the uncensored video as part of the console's ability to find bugs in games. That individual then made the video publicly accessible, which of course led to posting and/or referencing on game sites all over the world.
Now Sony is going around to legitimate gaming news websites which talked about the video and asking them to take down all references out of respect. A news release on the matter reads, in part:
The images are from an illegally hacked console and is very damaging for Ellen Page. It’s not actually her body. I would really appreciate if you can take the story down to end the cycle of discussion around this.
