Flume, Tame Impala and Birds of Tokyo will headline the 2014 ARIA Awards as part of a larger all-star lineup celebrating Australian music releases of the past year.
The December 1st music awards ceremony will also feature performances from Vance Joy, Bliss N Eso, Jessica Mauboy, Samantha Jade, Sheppard, The Potbelleez, Stafford Brothers and Alison Wonderland.
The 27th annual ARIAs are to be held at Sydney’s The Star Casino and should be a pretty busy night for the three headline acts. Flume is nominated for eight awards (including Album of the Year, Song of the Year), while Tame Impala and Birds of Tokyo for seven and six ARIAs respectively.
You can have your say on who wins- ARIA has opened a number of categories to the public, including Song Of The Year, Best International Act, Best Australian Live Act, and Best Video. Votes can be casted at the official ARIA Awards website, ending November 24.
After originally being pushed back due to cancellation of its second Sydney leg, the Big Day Out is about to drop a second lineup announcement.
The second bill will be revealed next Tuesday, November 19, but likely won’t feature another major act to appear alongside headliners Pearl Jam, Blur and Arcade Fire.
CEO Adam Zammit said Tuesday’s reveal will be a “supplementary announcement” including just a “few extra artists”.
“If you’re not going to go to the show on this lineup then a small breaking band isn’t going to change your mood,” West said.
“We’ve really only got a finite number of spots left and a lot of things will happen over the next three months musically.”
