There’s just something about lo-fi televised God-trolling that brings out the soul in a man. The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach takes the pulpit in the new video for “Fever,” playing a sweaty televangelist in promotion of the band’s upcoming eighth studio album, Turn Blue.
Directed by Theo Wenner, the clip finds Auerbach looking like a ragged vampire of souls as he rants and proselytizes about the Good Word, while drummer Patrick Carney sneaks a few sips from a flask and nods approvingly.
In typical afterlife-peddling fashion, the crowd matches Auerbach’s intensity as it grows more and more passionate, resulting in tears, hands to the sky, seizures and hallelujas .
Turn Blue arrives on May 13th (pre-order), and the band will play Saturday Night Live on May 10th.
