NXNE Music, an important component of the North By Northeast program, has been announcing rounds of musicians who will be taking the stage during the event next month. These are the top 10 musical performances to check out at NXNE.
Future Islands – With a new album called Singles, Future Islands has a number of European stops lined up for their latest tour before making their way to Toronto for NXNE.
Pusha T – Virginia native Pusha T is headlining other shows after his NXNE performance, including Croatia’s Fresh Island Festival. His latest album My Name Is My Name is out now.
AraabMUZIK – In the midst of a short northeastern tour that includes stops in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, he’s gearing up for a Memorial Day performance in NYC in the coming weeks.
Jacques Greene – Homegrown in Montreal, Greene, who is a modest and humble performer, is one of the biggest names in Canadian dance music today.
Tobacco – American electronic musician Tobacco, born Thomas Fec, is not only a successful solo artist but also fronts the band Black Moth Super Rainbow. He just released the album Ultima II Massage.
100s – The 14 tracks on this Berkeley, Californian’s album Ice Cold Perm have been garnering a lot of attention, making him one of the more sought-after artists at NXNE Music.
The Felice Brothers – This New York folk rock and country band was recently featured doing a cover of “This Magic Moment” by The Drifters in a Dell commercial. Their new endeavour Favorite Waitress is out on June 17th.
Sleigh Bells – Brooklyn musicians who like it LOUD, duo Alexis Krauss and Derek Edward Miller released their third album in October of last year and called it Bitter Rivals.
Spoon – Around since the early 1990s, Spoon has enjoyed a number of hits and are still going strong, with plans on releasing an album soon.
Juicy J – A Tennessee-based rapper, songwriter and producer, Juicy J put out Stay Trippy, his third album, in August of last year.
