There was plenty of basketball news to talk about following Tuesday night’s NBA Draft Lottery. However, the internet, being the internet, decided to focus on one thing — Mallory Edens.
Mallory, who is the daughter of Milwaukee Bucks co-owner, Wes Edens, was at the franchise’s seat representing the team on ESPN for the lottery Tuesday night. Sitting next to the Sixers’ representative, Julius Erving, Mallory was interviewed for a few seconds before the lottery began. Then the internet erupted.
Mallory started the day with 249 Twitter followers. By the end of the night following the NBA Draft Lottery telecast on ESPN, Mallory had nearly 26 thousand followers. She has more than 31K at the time of this writing and hasn’t tweeted since before the lottery.
One more thing — she’s an 18-year-old high school senior.

The Bucks, who had the worst record in the NBA last year and were hoping to land the No. 1 pick, drew the No. 2 selection for this summer’s NBA Draft. I guess Mals as a good luck charm didn’t help, but at least she has found herself as the newest female internet sensation found via random television moment in this bizarre age in which we live.
Just like Katherine Webb, expect magazines, reality show producers and commercial directors to come calling.
