“Boardwalk Empire” is coming to an end this fall, but series creator Terence Winter and Martin Scorsese are already deep into casting of their newest HBO project: a ‘70s Rock ‘n’ Roll drama with Mick Jagger.
According to Deadline, seven new cast members have been added to the currently untitled rock drama. The new performers are Andrew “Dice” Clay, Joe Caniano, Ato Essandoh, Robert Funaro, Birgitte Sorenson, J.C. Mackenzie and James Jagger, the son of Mick Jagger.
The show will revolve around Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale), a record executive in New York during the early days of disco and punk. Ray Romano is playing Richie’s right-hand man, Zak Yankovich with Olivia Wilde as Richie’s wife, Devon.

Clay will portray Frank “Buck” Rogers, who is described as “the obnoxious, cocaine-fueled owner of a chain of radio stations;” while Caniano is playing Richie’s chauffeur, Leo. Essandoh is taking on the role of former singer, Lester Grimes; with Funaro as mob enforcer Tony Del Greco; Sorenson as Ingrid, an actress and friend of Devon’s; and Mackenzie will play the head of sales for American Century Records, Skip Fontaine. James Jagger will play Kip Stevens, the lead singer in an early punk band called Nasty Bits.
Winter, Scorsese and Jagger have been developing this project since 2010. Scorsese is slated to direct the pilot episode and it is very likely to earn a series order from HBO.
