The Sims 4 Trailer Highlights “Smarter and Weirder” Gameplay

A new trailer for The Sims 4 has been released, highlighting the game's "smarter and weirder" gameplay.

The Sims series has always been known for its off-the-wall sense of humor, but it seems that developer Maxis is turning the wackiness up to 11 in its next outing, which could either be a good thing or a bad thing. Personally, I've always kept my Sims' households as grounded in reality as possible, giving myself and my friends' Sims personalities and occupations that match their real-life counterparts. With that being said, the addition of carnivorous plants doesn't exactly pique my interest.

However, if there was one major criticism leveled at The Sims 3, it was that after playing it for a while it tended to resemble reality a little too much. There'd be a lot of waiting around for your Sims to return home from work, when they'd be tired and wouldn't want to do much else other than sleep. It seems Maxis has taken this criticism to heart and planted The Sims in a more ludicrous world, though I'm hoping that it'll still accommodate my way of playing it. The news that the base game won't feature toddlers hasn't exactly filled me with hope in that regard.

The Sims 4 will be released on PC on September 2nd.
