These Two Questions Reveal Whether or Not You’re an Alcoholic

Are you an alcoholic? If you’re indecisive, the following two questions reveal the answer, a study for UK doctors has claimed.

Here are the two questions doctors are asking in order to deduce whether or not their patients are suffering from alcoholism:

  1. “How often do you have six or more drinks on one occasion?”
  2. “As a result of your drinking or drug use, did anything happen in the last year that you wish didn’t happen?”

According to the study, a doctor asking these questions can accurately determine whether or not their patient is an alcoholic.

The study, which was published today in the British Journal of General Practice, was made by Scientists from the University of Leicester alongside psycho-onchology consultant Alex Mitchell, and looked into how successful the following two questions were at helping to determine whether or not a patient was an alcoholic. According to the study, the questions had a 87.2% accuracy rating, with the addition of a further related question raising its accuray to 90.9%.

According to the Journal, the study evaluated the responses of 5,646 people in order to see whether or not these questions could accurately deduce whether or not a patient required an intervention. Given the results, it looks like they can.
