Peaky Blinders is returning to the BBC this autumn, with Shelby (Cillian Murphy) set to expand his empire into London.
Season 2 will still see the show set firmly in Birmingham, but will also follow the rise of Shelby’s business as it begins to grow throughout the UK.
The BBC has also released the very first still from the upcoming season, which you can view below.
Speaking of the next series, Cillian Murphy said: “We reached a point in series 1 where the Peaky Blinders’ empire expanded beyond where the family was when Tommy became the de facto leader.
“Now the next target is London, moving south and encountering more obstacles… trying to go legitimate but constantly being pulled back down in that criminal world, and that pull-and-push is the really exciting dramatic element of it.”
A new and very recognisable face will be joining Murphy for the next series, with Inception and The Dark Knight Rises actor Tom Hardy taking on the role of a “charismatic leader” who reportedly attempts to cut a deal with Shelby. Sophie Rundle, who plays Ada Shelby in the show, praised Hardy’s performance, saying: “I was sort of trying to stalk him around the set, because he’s just brilliant. He’s done legendary work and all the boys were just fan-girling over him – the stuff he’s done in this show is just amazing!”
Peaky Blinders season 2 will air in the UK on BBC Two in autumn 2014.
