Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier Fight At UFC 178 Media Day

UFC 178 Media Day went without a hitch Monday… Well, other than the fact a brawl broke out between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.

The two met on stage in front of a large media crowd at the MGM Grand, but when Jones put his forehead onto Cormier’s — which, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that a fairly normal gesture during a posed face-off for the media? — Cormier, without saying a word, shoved Jones backward. In response, Jones attacked Cormier, shoving UFC public relations head Dave Sholler in the process. The rest speaks for itself.

After seeing too many staged altercations prefacing boxing matches, I question the authenticity of this ‘fight.’ Does this very-public and well-timed melee look real or do you think it was staged to gain promotion. Either way, it’s great for the UFC.

Cormier (15-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) will take on Jones (20-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sept. 27.

In other MMA news Monday, the NSAC is doing everything they can to make sure Chael Sonnen never fights again.
