A new PS4 SKU is currently in production according to PS4Daily. The SKU model number is CUH-1001X, instead of the current CUH-1001A. Apparently, the console will include a 1TB hard drive, which is twice as much as the current 500GB.
If true, there are two ways this could be introduced to the market. Either Sony will release a new bundle at a premium price that includes the increased capacity and a game or two, or the current 500GB model will be phased out to deliver a 1TB version at the current $399 price point. The second option is certainly plausible given the increasing prevalence of digital sales, and Sony’s increasing profit margin on PS4s.

The PS4 has remained in high demand throughout 2014, toppling the nine million units sold milestone several weeks ago. As successful as it’s been, Sony is always looking for new ways to continue its momentum. A larger hard drive capacity would be one way of accomplishing that.
Sony’s next big bundle is the Glacier White PS4 which includes a copy of Destiny. However, it is confirmed to only have a 500GB hard drive despite its $449.99 price tag. With the 500GB premium bundle arriving on September 9th, it is unlikely that the rumored 1TB SKU will enter the market until the holiday season, likely around the time of Black Friday (November 28th).
