Next summer on Syfy may look very much like this summer.
Syfy has announced that both “Defiance” and “Dominion” have been renewed for next year with 13 episode orders each. “Defiance” will be entering its third season while “Dominion” will begin its second season.
The network also announced that Kevin Murphy will remain with “Defiance” as the showrunner and executive producer. “Dominion” creator Vaun Wilmott will also remain on his series as the showrunner and an executive producer.

Both “Defiance” and “Dominion” averaged 2 million total viewers across all platforms, although “Dominion” drew slightly more adults in the highly coveted 18-to-49 demo. “Dominion” was adapted from the feature film Legion and it serves a sequel series to that movie’s storyline about a war between humanity and angels. “Defiance” was launched in conjunction with Trion World’s Defiance video game, as the show and the game share the same fictional universe.
Syfy didn’t announce return dates for either series, but another summer run for “Defiance” and “Dominion” seems likely. Both shows are expected to return in 2015.
