Although HBO has yet to formally announce the casting of Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams for “True Detective” Season 2, four more names have entered the mix ahead of the first table read later this week.
Deadline is reporting that Kelly Reilly, the star of the short lived ABC drama, “Black Box,” is in final negotiations for a series regular role in “True Detective” Season 2. Additionally, Michael Irby (“Almost Human”), Abigail Spencer (“Suits”) and Leven Rambin (“The Tomorrow People”) are also in closing talks for recurring roles in the new season.
As envisioned by series creator Nic Pizzolatto, the new season of “True Detective” will focus on a brand new group of characters in an original storyline. Colin Farrell, Kitsch and McAdams will portray three cops who are investigating a complex conspiracy in the wake of a murder. Vince Vaughn will play a career criminal who also finds himself entangled within the mystery.

The Deadline report states that Reilly will play a “self-possessed” woman named Morgan while Irby will portray Romero, the partner of McAdams’ character. The report also speculates that Spence will take the role of Alicia, a survivor of a sexual attack. Ramblin is rumored to play Sophia, “a beauty with a history of drug problems.”
HBO will likely issue a formal announcement about the “True Detective” castings within the next few weeks. A premiere date for the second season has not yet been announced.
