Is the McRib Really That Bad for You? McDonald’s Attempts to Prove Otherwise

McDonald’s is on a mission to prove that the process behind the creation of its food is really not as awful as you may have been led to believe. Now they’re tackling the McRib, which has got a lot of bad press lately due to an image circulating the web that didn’t paint the pattie in a very favorable light.

The image in question? Take a look for yourself:

Yeesh.

That photo was originally circulated on Reddit, with the user stating that it’s a photo he was sent by a friend of his who works at McDonald’s, who claimed that this was raw McRib meat. After the photo went viral, McDonald’s has now sought to change public perception of one of its most popular items on the menu.

Teaming with Mythbusters co-host Grant Imahara, McDonald’s posted a video titled “What are McRib patties made of?” Imahara was suitably pleased with the results.

Watch the video below:

There are obviously (and quite rightly) those who are wary of the information dished out in these videos, though it’s definitely a good way for McDonald’s to clean up its image a little bit and held us separate the fact from the fiction. We don’t know whether our stomachs could handle eating McRibs as often as some of its most loyal fans do, but what’s the harm in chowing down on one every now and again? Just make sure you hit the gym afterwards.
