One of the world’s most well-known bands has announced a new world tour, iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE, that includes stops in the US, Europe, and Canada.
The tour actually kicks off in the West Coast in Vancouver with two shows, marking the start of a 19-city coast-to-coast trek that will also see them playing two shows in Toronto and Montreal each. Despite the fact that U2 has played larger outdoor venues on tours past, this tour will see the band playing at “smaller” indoor venues.
Special shows are being planned for Dublin for the end of next year to benefit the U2-initiated Music Generation project and details will follow once they are finalised. “We are going to try to have a completely different feeling from night one to night two,” said Bono on the band’s official website, “and have some fun playing with the idea of innocence and experience. More to be revealed.”
Tickets for all shows go on general sale next Monday, December 8th, but presales to paid U2.com subscribers begins tomorrow, Thursday, December 4th. Songs Of Innocence, the 13th studio album from U2, has now been streamed 81 million times and downloaded by 30 million fans.
“The anticipation for a U2 tour is always extraordinary, as it should be,” said Arthur Fogel, President of Global Touring and Chairman of Global Music. “Following the record-setting 360° Tour I’m amazed that they still want to be ground-breaking, this time on a more intimate scale.”
