Lester caught a Clint Barmes comebacker while playing San Diego Sunday, but couldn’t get the ball out of his glove when trying to throw him out at first base. So what’s a guy to do? Toss over his whole glove to first base, of course.
Some analysts have called it the ‘smartest’ play they’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t go that far. But I would call it one of the most creative.
