Documentary Racing Extinction Premieres On Discovery In December

Spanning the globe to infiltrate the world’s most dangerous black markets and using high tech tactics to document the link between carbon emissions and species extinction, Racing Extinction makes its Canadian television next month on Discovery, and live-streamed on the new Discovery GO app and at Discovery.ca. Premiering during the upcoming 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) held in Paris, the revealing two-hour documentary offers a sobering yet optomistic new perspective of planet earth and the devastating effects of species extinction.

Racing Extinction was developed by Academy Award-winning director Louie Psihoyos and the group behind the popular film The Cove and is slated to air across Discovery International Networks in more than 220 countries and territories within a 24-hour period, beginning in New Zealand and concluding in North America. The international broadcast premieres follow an international film festival run that included both the Sundance Film Festival and Hot Docs.

Racing Extinction is a touching, compelling, and eye-opening film that is galvanizing a movement for global change,” said Ken MacDonald, Vice-President and General Manager at Discovery, in a media release. “We are proud to bring this story to Canadians and perhaps inspire thoughtful and informed conversations from coast to coast to coast.”

Racing Extinction premieres Wednesday, December 2nd at 9pm on Discovery.
