13 years ago, The X-Files finished its nine season run on Fox. But in just over a month, The X-Files will be making a big comeback.
Six brand new episodes of The X-Files have been produced with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Series creator Chris Carter is back as well, and so are several of the original X-Files’ best writers, including Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.
The first episode of the new X-Files screened at New York Comic-Con in October, and it revealed how Mulder and Scully came to be working together at the FBI again. That episode also challenged Mulder’s long held beliefs about the alien invasion and put a fresh spin on the mythology.
Fox has posted a new behind-the-scenes video from The X-Files revival. And while it’s very short, and short on new details, it is entertaining to see the cast and crew back together again.
Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood, and Dean Haglund will also reprise their roles on the new X-Files episodes. Former Community star Joel McHale will guest star in the first episode alongside The Americans co-star Annet Mahendru.
The X-Files will premiere on Sunday, January 24, 2016 after the NFC Championship game, and a second episode will air on Monday, January 25 in its regular timeslot.
