Washington Nationals hurler Max Scherzer tied a Major League record for strikeouts in a nine inning game Wednesday night with 20 Ks against the Tigers.
The pitcher was already coming off an epic 2015 season in which he threw two no-hitters. Now, he joins Roger Clemens, Kerry Wood and Randy Johnson as the only pitchers in baseball history with 20 strikeouts in a 9-inning game.
The best part? Detroit is Scherzer’s former team.
Here’s Scherzy’s 20 Ks in 20 seconds:
Scherzer allowed six hits and two runs in the complete game victory. His previous career high was 17 strikeouts.
