Star Wars Episode VIII was being filmed in Ireland this past weekend, with the cast venturing to the small village of Malin in County Donegal. One of the more prominent members of said cast, Rey actor Daisy Ridley, was spotted by a family of Star Wars fans, leading to an excellent and heart-warming response that shows how The Force Awakens has created a whole a new generation of fans of the sci-fi franchise.
In a video posted to Twitter, the McGuinn family drive past the Star Wars Episode VIII crew taking a break between filming. Daisy Ridley can briefly be seen standing in among the crowd, leading to a chorus of gasps and cries of “Oh my God!” from the children filming the moment.

The Star Wars cast, including Ridley, Mark Hamill, and Adam Driver, spent the weekend in Donegal before traveling to Cork this afternoon. In celebration of the village’s famous arrivals, pubs in the region began decorating pints of Guinness with the Star Wars logo, while Stormtrooper graffiti was also sprayed near Malin’s pier.
