EP Premiere: Black Helicopter Reignite The Pit With ‘Deadlines For Deadbeats’

A fist through the emergency glass of popular rock’s modern rigidity, Black Helicopter drive their sound to a white-flame purity with the rock-lava gusto of doing whatever the fuck they want to do. And you can hear it on their latest EP release, Deadline For Deadbeats, exclusively premiering today on Crave.

The Boston outfit lace their rugged rock explorations with the sardonically brooding mic work of frontman Tim Shea. There’s a slight Sloan lean on the vocals, a ‘90s thrust around grinding rhythms and flourishes of psychedelic-freakout delight with just enough pop sensibility to keep the hooks deep in the meat of you. Sharing stages with Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore, Killing Joke, J. Mascis and beyond throughout their lengthy existence, Black Helicopter are right at home in the chaos.

They’ve been quiet since 2010’s Don’t Fuck With The Apocalypse LP that came out via Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace label, but now Black Helicopter returns with Deadlines For Deadbeats, out May 20 via Midriff Records. Check it out below, exclusively debuted on Crave.
