The days and frustrations of trying to meet people whilst out, but only ever bumping into peeps with whom you have nothing in common, may be coming to an end.
A student from the Rhode Island School of Design has created a new way to meet people who you have similar tastes to. Bojian Han has made a pair of shoes that will use your social media profiles to aggregate your fitness, hobbies, fashion sense and tastes together – and illuminate a specific colour through the LEDs within the shoe.
Once wearing the shoes, users simply download an app which will connect to your social media – and send signals to the receivers in the shoes. Then, when someone with enough in common comes near, users can see if their colours match. The LEDs will also light up more brightly and begin to blink when they sense someone who is compatible.
In a slightly creepy accompanying video, Han suggests that the shoe “knows what you do every day, knows your preferences, knows yours hobbies”.
Check out the video below for more on the shoes that will surely soon take over the world.
