Exclusive Video | ‘Outsiders’ Season 1 DVD

It may be another seven months before WGN America drops the second season of Outsiders, but fans of the show and potential new viewers will be able to go back to the Shay mountain this week when the first season hits DVD!

Outsiders is largely the story of Asa (Joe Anderson), and the Farrell clans living in Kentucky on the Shay mountain. Prior to the series, Asa spent ten years in the outside world and he wasn’t exactly welcomed back by Big Foster (David Morse), the man who was next in line to be the leader of the clans. However, their conflict plays out against the backdrop of the greatest threat to their way of life in generations. A coal company is attempting to evict the Farrells from their home and a war may be imminent.

Ahead of the release of Outsiders Season 1 on DVD, CraveOnline is proud to present an exclusive video that offers up some background information about the Farrell, Shay and McGintuk families that live on the Shay mountain. Series creator Peter Mattei and executive producer Peter Tolan share their thoughts on the Farrells in this clip, alongside cast members David Morse and Ryan Hurst.

Here’s the official description of Outsiders:

“For untold generations, the Farrell, Shay and McGintuk families of Kentucky’s Shay Mountain have existed as a society unto themselves, living by the same laws and rituals as their pagan fathers. But these fiercely insular clans are about to face the gravest threats they have ever known, not only from the outside world but from within their own ranks. Asa Farrell, a black sheep who dared leave the mountain in a vain attempt at a normal life, must now try to preserve the volatile community he tried so hard to escape.”

The Outsiders season 1 DVD will include all 13 episodes, deleted scenes and the following featurettes: “Up on the Mountain: The First Season” and “Meet the Farrells.” It will be released tomorrow, May 24 in stores and online retailers.
