Madame Tussauds Unveil Star Wars Waxwork of Rey

Madame Tussauds have unveiled their brand new waxwork of Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ heroine Rey.

Debuting the figure during a conference at Star Wars Celebration 2016 today, the creators of Madame Tussauds’ popular Star Wars line of lifelike figures revealed that Rey would be joining droid BB-8 at the London tourist attraction, with it also set to appear at Madame Tussauds Berlin.

Speaking about the creative process behind the development of Rey, the figure’s creators said: “We didn’t want this figure to look like Daisy Ridley, we wanted it to look like Rey… When you’re depicting a character from a film, you want to depict that persona, not the actor.”

Considering how uncannily realistic the Rey figure is, its creators revealed that the filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens actually meant that they could not meet with Daisy Ridley while developing it. They were instead granted exclusive access to the Star Wars prop ship, and developed the figure entirely based upon information regarding the actress’ dimensions.
