September 7, 1996. It was 20 years ago today when Tupac Shakur was killed after leaving a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas.
The 25-year-old and his associate Suge Knight were gunned down from inside their car while waiting at a stop light on the Vegas strip. Their killer, or killers, are still at large to this day.
The shooting happened at 11:15 p.m. local time at East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane. Just a short time before the murder, Tupac attended the Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon boxing match at the MGM.
Tupac watched his friend take down Seldon in just one round for the WBA title. Here’s the complete fight.
In fact, Tupac actually recorded a song for Tyson before the fight. In the video below the boxer talks about feeling guilty for not being there for his friend following his match.
