First Look | ‘Big Trouble In Little China/Escape From New York’ # 1

Next month, there’s Big Trouble headin’ to New York, and ol’ Jack Burton is at the wheel! Two of Kurt Russell’s most popular characters are about to collide in Boom! Studios’ epic six-part miniseries: Big Trouble in Little China/Escape From New York!

Writer Greg Pak and artist Daniel Bayliss are on board to give us the ultimate crossover that neither John Carpenter nor the ’80s gave us. Somehow, Jack has been thrust from the year 1987 to the dystopian future of Snake Plissken with no apparent way home! Boom! has released the first few pages from the first issue, which reveals how Jack got to the alternate future. Even the mystic powers that be have trouble telling Jack and Snake apart. But as you can see in this preview, Snake isn’t exactly thrilled about the stranger who shares his face.

Fortunately, Boom! Studios’ solicitation copy has everything you need to know about the story:

“It’s the mother of all crossovers as Jack Burton and Snake Plissken meet for the first time ever anywhere! Done with director John Carpenter’s complete blessing, witness this melee of the mullets as two cult-classic characters made famous by actor Kurt Russell crossover in an improbable adventure.

As lightning cascades around Jack and his good ol’ Pork-Chop Express, he finds himself transported and driving through the horrors of what seems to be the dystopian future of…Escape from New York?! Snake Plissken catches wind of Jack and goes on the hunt to find who is trying to steal his identity. Prepare for the road trip of a lifetime, with Jack and Snake rumblin’ down the streets of a dystopian future to find what craziness caused Jack to jump through worlds.”

Here are the covers by Daniel Bayliss, Michael Allred, Michael Cho, Andy Belanger, and Oliver Barrett:

Big Trouble in Little China/Escape From New York #1 will be released on Wednesday, October 5.
