Watch The xx Honor Small Town ‘Merica In Rapturous New Video

Fresh off a stirring SNL appearance, The xx have released a cinematic accompaniment for the first single “Hold On” off the their upcoming third album, I See You (which can’t get here soon enough, Jan. 13 to be exact).

Directed by “It” Brit photographer Alasdair McLellan (follow him on Instagram), the visual stunner feels like a modern interpretation of Terrence Malick’s Badlands with its small town setting, rapturous magic-hour landscape shots and quick cutaways to wasted youth in the throes of romantic yearning, heated passion or day in the life bliss.  

The trio of of Jamie xx, Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim commented on the video in a statement, “It was filmed in Marfa, Texas, a very special place to us. We have a lot of love and respect for the people of the USA, having played hundreds of shows across the country over the past years. We hope this video reflects just some of the warmth and acceptance we have encountered there.”
