Players Who Have The Most NBA Rings

The hardest attainable pieces of jewelry in the world of basketball are of course NBA rings, some great players have gone through records and highlights but because their fingers feel naked their careers are unfulfilled. This list of players with the most NBA rings is such a restricted area that even Michael Jordan isn’t on it, as he, as well as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Scottie Pippen, and Bob Cousy, has “just” six rings to his name. There are nine men with more titles than that, and all but one have played and won for the Boston Celtics.

It’s also worth noting that besides the Celtics only Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers have more titles than any of these players!

Players With 7 NBA Rings

Three men have won seven NBA rings in history, and amongst them is the only man that is defending the honor of the rest of the league – Robert Horry. Not only is he the only non-Boston player to win more than six titles, but he is the only player that managed to get this many rings with three different teams. He was the part of the Houston Rockets team that won the double – which separated the Chicago Bulls’ two three-year reigns – in 1994 and 1995. He had a streak of three championships in an L.A. Lakers jersey from 2000 to 2002, then Horry went to San Antonio for his next two titles, won in 2005 and 2007.

From here on out, only players who wore green and white jerseys of Celtics are on this list, unlike their upcoming teammates Frank Ramsey and Jim Loscutoff stopped at seven. Which is even more impressive seeing how they only played in nine NBA seasons. Both of them won the rings in the same years – 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964.

Players with 8 NBA Rings

The Boston Celtics dynasty was established in the ’60s and all four of the players with eight NBA titles played their part in that feat. Tom Heinsohn started off the earliest, in 1957, stopping in 1965, meaning that he played only one season in the NBA that he didn’t win, the same as K.C. Jones, the man who just started winning in 1959, and got his last ring in 1966.

Tom “Satch” Sanders only missed one Boston Celtics title in the ’60s, the first one in 1960, and he was a part of all the rest. The fourth eight-rings man John Havlicek started off winning the latest from this bunch, back in 1963, but he managed to get two titles in the ’70s too. The Hall of Famer is also one of three players with an 8-0 record in the NBA Finals, along with K.C. and “Satch” Sanders.

Former shooting guard and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame member Sam Jones is one of three Celtics that was a part of all eight consecutive championships from 1959 to 1966, the other two being K.C. Jones and the only man who has more rings than Jones. Philadelphia 76s stopped Jones from having the perfect decade of NBA championships from 1959 until 1969 by winning the title in 1967. Still, Jones will be forever remembered as one of the players with most NBA titles.

Player With 11 NBA Rings

Only one person in history has too many NBA championship rings for his fingers – Bill Russell. Since debuting in 1957 up until his career ended in 1969, Russell didn’t win a ring in just two years – 1958, and 1967, but he was the MVP in the first dry year. If one NBA record never gets broken it will be this one, as the former center is untouchable seeing how his predecessors on this list are almost all his former teammates and that even the best players today can’t gather more than four titles due to the competition being stronger. Will the man with the most NBA rings remain unbothered until the end of the NBA, remains fone of the most interesting “we’ll see” stories in the league.

The big man holds the record for the most titles won by an athlete in a North American sports league, and his streak on the NBA champions list can put any franchise, but his Celtics, to shame.

Which of these players with the most NBA rings had the most impressive career in your opinion? Do you value more the sheer volume of Russell’s rings or the adaptability of Robert Horry?
