But if you’re like me and you’d rather make it an unforgettable summer, below are just a few ways to stay chipper, even if you’re not the biggest sports fan.

Go to a Major League Baseball game
Think 'America's past time' is passed its prime? Think again. Although still mostly a regional sport, attendance has never been higher. Even if you're not a major league fan , going to a baseball game is the perfect date; it gives you enough time to casually talk and get to know each other in an exciting environment, but there are still blood-pumping moments that will make you stand up and cheer; this energy is especially true in historic parks such as Wrigley (Chicago) or Fenway (Boston). With exception to the aforementioned parks, just make sure you fork over a few extra bucks for decent seats. It will still be cheaper than an NFL game and it's well worth it.
Truly enjoy the 'dog days of summer'
Don't have the itch to workout or go anywhere near people? Make your dog do it. There are actually dozens of different types of 'athletic' competitions for dogs. All you have to do is hit up your local dog training club (you can also ask your vet or groomer for where to look). 'Dog sports' are continuing to grow throughout the country. Not kidding, the TV station I work for aired one this past weekend. Dare I say, it was grrrrrrrreat ... Here's info that may help you get started .
Golf
Hit the links!
I'm kidding!! ... Kind of ...
No one in our generation has time or resources to spend eight hours and $100 playing a game. In fact, I blame golf for the 50 percent divorce rate. Golf courses are closing all over the country. However, one venture has kept the fun alive -- Top Golf . If you have a Top Golf in your city, you must go. It's kind of like bowling, but with golf, an impressive way to play golf games, keeping score, all while smashing golf balls across a high-tech range. And you can drink at the same time. Anything that can get my girl to want to play golf is genius. Here are locations .
Kickball (the new Tinder)
Don't like the beach but still want to find a fun way to meet new people? Kickball leagues have caught wildfire from coast to coast. I was in a co-ed league last summer that was mostly a drinking contest every Wednesday night. The pitcher, third baseman, centerfielder ... all drinking while playing in the field. I played in this league with my fiancée. But even if you're single and ready to mingle, these leagues can be a lot of fun.
Get to the beach for some volleyball
Don't live on the coast? Hit up your local lake front or parks and rec department. Most cities (even Kansas City) have sand courts somewhere. Whether it's casual fun or joining a competitive league, Volleyball is a great way to get outdoors and meet new people. And hell, you don't even have to be that good to enjoy it. The Amish even love it. Trust me.
