RIP Betty White: The Best GIFs to Celebrate the Hilarious Golden Girl’s Life and Career

A legend has left us. Just yesterday, comedic actress Betty White died peacefully in her sleep on New Year’s Eve at the age of 99, just a couple of weeks shy of her 100th birthday.

“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” her agent and close friend Jeff Witjas told People in a statement. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much.”

The hilarious spitfire’s entertainment career dates way back to after World War II. She started out in radio, then transitioned to TV when the medium was still relatively new. The trailblazer appeared on everything from game shows and talk shows to The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Golden Girls, racking up awards along the way.

As White aged, the more popular she seemed to become. At 88, she became the oldest person to ever host Saturday Night Live. Everyone adored her, especially Ryan Reynolds, who tweeted jokingly about a crush on her as recently as last week.

She always had a smile on her face and always put one on ours, too.

She was also a fierce advocate for animals, donating funds to the Los Angeles Zoo and serving as a judge for the American Humane Hero Dog Awards.

Ms. White will be truly missed by fellow celebrities and average Joes alike. She was the grandmother we never had, and though she graced us with her presence for almost 100 years, it still feels like she left the Earth too soon.

In honor of this incredible woman, we’ve rounded up her funniest GIFs. Rest in peace, Betty. We’re sure you have everyone in the hereafter laughing their asses off already.
