Covid Couture: Katy Perry Rocks Earrings Made From Home Tests, That’s One Way to Stay Positive These Days

Katy Perry loves a good costume. She’s known for dressing up in ridiculous outfits, from hand sanitizer to toilet paper. But her latest campy display came in the form of jewelry that she donned for a Saturday Night Live performance.

The fashion statement was a pair of earrings…made from COVID-19 tests.

“I cleared,” she joked in an Instagram post showcasing the dangly adornments.

The earrings aren’t a Perry original, though. They were actually designed by 21-year-old student Carolina García, who lives in Málaga, Spain.

“On New Year’s Eve, I didn’t have anything red to wear, so I saw a bunch of antigen tests from Christmas and instantly had the idea of turning them into earrings,” García told Page Six Style.

Garcia’s viral Instagram post of the accessories caught the attention of Johnny Wujek, Perry’s longtime stylist, so he commissioned a few pairs for the pop superstar.

These are certainly cooler than a vaccine card, and one way to stay, ahem, positive during this never-ending pandemic.
