Ryan Reynolds Teases Return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’ (And Fans Are Freaking Out)

Great news for Deadpool fans. The comedic superhero film is coming back for a third installment — and Ryan Reynolds isn’t the only big name associated with the project.

In a Twitter video featuring Reynolds’ signature deadpan humor, the actor explains that he basically ran out of ideas for another Deadpool movie.

“We’ve been working really hard on the next Deadpool film for, uh, a good long while now. I’ve had to really search my soul on this one,” he says as he’s seen walking contemplatively in a forest.

“His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to be special. We need to stay true to the character. Find new depth and motivation, new meaning.”

As he speaks, Reynolds is seen passing time tossing a tennis ball in the air, typing with one finger on a typewriter, and lifting weights.

“Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside,” he continues.

Then Reynolds looks straight at the camera. “And I…I have nothing. Yeah, just…completely…empty up here.” He taps his head. “And terrifying.”

All hope seems lost, but then Reynolds adds, “But we did have one idea.”

Cue plot twist.

“Hey, Hugh. You wanna play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds yells over his shoulder just as Jackman waltzes through the background, eating what appears to be an apple.

“Yeah. Sure, Ryan,” Jackman replies casually, then heads up the stairs.

Reynolds raises his eyebrows suggestively before the screen cuts to black. Then “Coming Hughn” drops down in red on the screen as Whitney Houston’s hit “I Will Always Love You” plays.

Suffice to say, fans were psyched about the forthcoming film’s cast.

“Let’s goooooooooooo,” one Twitter user exclaimed.

“HYPE, HYPE, HYPE!!!” another wrote.

“RYAN THANK YOU SO MUCH IM SO HAPPY,” an enthusiastic fan commented in all caps.

Deadpool 3 hits theaters on Sept. 6, 2024. Judging by the excitement for the film, that’s far too long for most fans to wait.
