The DNC has taken responsibility for projecting various anti-Trump slogans on the side of Trump Tower in Chicago. On Sunday, August 18, 2024, light projections with messages like “Trump-Vance weird as hell” could be seen on the hotel during the night, ahead of the Democratic National Convention that takes place from August 19 to August 22. Here’s a breakdown of every projection the Harris-Walz campaign used to taunt Donald Trump.
What DNC messages were projected on Trump Tower?
The DNC projected messages including “Harris Walz fighting for you”, “Project 2025 HQ”, “Harris Walz, joy and hope”, and other slogans in Spanish on Chicago’s Trump International Hotel and Tower.
It was originally unclear who was responsible for the light stunt, but the DNC has since identified itself as the culprit in a post on Instagram.
The “Project 2025 HQ” is a reference to the 2025 Presidential Transition Project, a 900-page initiative created by the Heritage Foundation that pushes conservative policies by giving more power to the executive branch if Donald Trump is elected president. It proposes policies that would make it easier to fire federal workers who disagree with the president’s agenda, dismantle the Department of Education, and undermine efforts to prevent climate change.
Trump stated in July 2024 that he knows “nothing about Project 2025,” attempting to distance himself from the initiative, as reported by The Hill.
Abhi Rahman, the DNC Deputy Communications Director, made a statement about the projections, stating via NBC Chicago that “all eyes are on Chicago, and tonight, everyone is seeing a preview of the contrast that will take center stage this week throughout the Democratic National Convention.”
He continues: “While Donald Trump and JD Vance are out for themselves, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are fighting for you.”
We’ll update this piece if the DNC projects more messages on the hotel as the convention continues throughout the week. In recent news, hacked Trump docs have revealed who could have replaced JD Vance as his VP pick.
