Taylor Swift’s Swifties can’t stop gushing over Chris Martin’s ‘Love Story’ cover

Taylor Swift fans have been gushing over Coldplay frontman Chris Martin’s “Love Story” cover with Maggie Rogers. The song came as a surprise to the audience at the Ernst Happel Stadium during The Music of the Spheres show on Wednesday night.

Before starting the band’s opening act, Martin addressed the audience, “If this is not good, please, please don’t put it on YouTube because I don’t want to get in trouble with Taylor.” Additionally, he requested the crowd to sing along with the acoustic version of Swift’s iconic track “Love Story.”

Siwfties on X (formerly Twitter) have been discussing Chris Martin and Maggie Rogers’ performance of the song in Vienna heavily since it happened. Users called Coldplay and Martin “sweet” and “precious” for singing the Love Story cover. One user exclaimed, “I love how supportive and kind Coldplay has been towards Taylor over the years.” Another person wrote, “Wait that’s sooo cute. I’m seeing Coldplay tomorrow in Vienna with my friend & we were supposed to see Taylor in Vienna on N 1 & 2. If he plays it tomorrow too I will bawl my eyes out.”

According to Billboard, a fan video of Chris Martin’s “Love Story” cover during Coldplay’s Vienna showed the moment he listed down the reason behind the heartfelt performance. Martin said, “We haven’t mentioned that Vienna was in the news all over the world for all the wrong reasons. But what reached us was the beauty and the togetherness, and kindness of all of Taylor Swift’s fans.” He claimed the band felt they had “to do the best we can do” in Taylor Swift’s absence.

Taylor Swift had canceled her Vienna Eras Tour two weeks before Coldplay’s performance after authorities uncovered a terror plot.
