Capcom used this year’s EVO 2013 tournament to announce Ultra Street Fighter 4, which will be the third expanded version of the game following Super Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition.
The game will introduce five new fighters to Street Fighter IV‘s roster, including Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento and a brand new unannounced character, upping the total number of combatants in the game to 44. Capcom have also rebalanced all existing characters in the game in response to “direct fan feedback.”
Ultra Street Fighter 4 will also see the addition of six new stages, including Pitstop 109, Mad Gear Hideout, Cosmic Elevator, Blast Furnace, Half Pipe and Jurassic Era Research Facility. It will also feature new modes and features, though Capcom hasn’t elaborated upon what these will be.
The game will be released as both a downloadable and retail product for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, with SSF4 and SSF4: AE owners able to download it for $14.99, while the full disc/download version is going to sell for $39.99. Those who purchase the full version will receive all previously released costume DLC for the SSF4 series.
In the trailer Capcom boasts that the expansion features “over $40 worth” of DLC, though this is compared to the pricing of their other ludicrously priced downloadable offerings, so that claim should be taken with a large handful of salt.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 is set to be released in early 2014. Watch the trailer below, and I’ve included a gallery of screenshots/artwork below that, for your viewing pleasure.
