Outside Lands 2013 has announced a disappointing cancellation, with one hell of a silver lining: D’Angelo has been sidelined due to a medical emergency, and has pulled out of his Outside Lands appearance as a result.
According to a press release, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers will be taking D’Angelo’s slot to close the Sutro Stage on Friday. Yes, that’s the Chic you remember from a billion years ago, the coke-party disco-assassin outfit best known for hits like “Le Freak” and “Good Times”. Will we see a 70s-laced version of “Get Lucky” led by Rodgers? It’s not unthinkable…
Allen Scott of Another Planet Entertainment promises nothing but goodness: “Chic is still one of the greatest live bands around and I can guarantee that they are going to bring the party to Outside Lands on Friday.”
