Soundwave 2014 Lineup: Green Day, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains & More

The Soundwave 2014 lineup finally dropped on Friday afternoon and headlining Australia’s premier heavy music festival are Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Temple Pilots.

Soundwave and promoter AJ Maddah revealed the first of two lineup announcements on Friday, featuring 50 bands with another headliner to come into the second announcement.

Alongside the big acts will be Alice In Chains and Megadeath while the likes of Rob Zombie, KoRn, Trivium, Rocket From The Crypt and AFI make up the other notable inclusions.

The addition of Green Day is the band’s first Australian visit since releasing the ¡Uno!¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! trilogy of last year. The boys will perform exclusive 2.5 hour sets at all five Soundwave destinations (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth).

Maddah had warned fans in advance that 2014 lineup wouldn’t matchup name for name against the star studded group of 2013 (Metallica, Slayer, Blink-182 and Anthrax), however Australia’s most spotlight-friendly festival figure has done a significant job gathering a very solid lineup.

“We’re not going to top it,” Maddah said after Soundwave 2013 back in March. “It was our 10th anniversary, so a 1 off big show.”
