Turn 10 recently said that Forza Motorsport 5 is its “greatest challenge yet“. Dynamic A.I. was cited as one reason for its complexity, as are its beautiful cars. But what about how many cars there will be and how many you can throw on a track?
Amazon.fr has leaked some of the vitals for Forza 5, including how many cars it’ll let you drive and the total players allowed in a multiplayer lobby. The description says the following:
Link racing games: Whether you are a beginner or experienced pilot, Forza Motorsport 5 is for you! Hundreds of cars reproduced to perfection, more than 120 new available from the start. Change in your garage and choose to ride on the legendary circuit or in the heart of cities around the world.
It continues:
Finally for the first time, Forza 5 benefit from a unique multiplayer experience: With 24 drivers for the first time on the same course online, do yourself a name among the gaming communities. The matchmaking system Smart Match offers a whole new multiplayer experience, fast and competitive, perfectly suited to your skills and style. Finally for the first time, Forza 5 benefit from dedicated servers.
In comparison, Forza 4 had a little over 600 cars and allowed 16 players on its tracks. While it wins in total cars, its vehicles weren’t nearly as detailed as Forza 5‘s, and it had a lot of bloat from duplicated cars with minor differences—more than 30 versions of the Nissan Skyline, for example. The few cars Forza 5 does have are quite special. Exotics such as the Lamborghini Aventador, Pagani Huayra, and McLaren P1 make the list, and it’s every car enthusiast’s dream to drive any one of those.
As far as 24-player online races goes, that’s a jump from what competing console racers offer. Gran Tuismo 5, and presumably Gran Turismo 6, support 16 players. More players means more opportunity for drafting, takeovers, heart-stopping-crashes, and all the other elements that make racing exhilarating.
Forza 5 releases alongside the Xbox One on November on November 22nd.
